Even the Darkest Hearts can feel the Light...

~Cry Baby, Cry...~
The days grew darker near the villages that year. A looming danger always hanging above like a haunting black bat ready to swoop down and devour all it saw. It was certainly not a good time to bear foal, but then, often mothers have no choice as to their child's arrival. A black pegasus mare, her body soaked in sweat, lay in her stable, groaning from her efforts. A father was no where to be seen, and thus, expected there was none. But as the night grew longer, it seemed unimportant as to the parentage of this foal, for shortly after his birth, his mother passed on...drained of energy from the nights work. A tiny infant colt, shockingly white as the pale moon which had watched him enter the world, opened his eyes to the coming dawn, never truly aware that he was so terribly alone in this world. But soon hunger in sued, and he began to cry piteously to any who may see fit to help...and hear someone did... Within the fading shadows of night, a demon mare was gliding above. Her heart tugged at the sound, dispite her dark appearance. Giving in to her pity, she swooped to the barn and whisked the tiny infant onto her back, then, took flight once more, making haste to the dark castle from whens she had come.

Upon arrival the other equine's in the Lord's stables thought the mare a fool to take on an orphaned colt, but she'd hear none of it. They also scorned at his pure ivory coat. But beside the minor taunting of the others, the colt grew quickly on the milk of another mare who was foaling her own offspring.
Somehow, there was always something different about young Bleak, as he'd been dubbed. He never wanted to train as the other young foals would, for their soon entrance into the elite of the Lord's army. Nor did he even favor the idea, but as with all the young equines, once he reached his first year, he was called before the Lord himself, to be granted the potion that would turn his mind and body to his dark will.

But the night before, his mother told him her dark secret. She pulled him aside and with a heavy heart told him that he was not truely her son. He was shocked of course, but she wished him to look past that, for her message was of dire importance. "My son, though I am not the mare who bore you, I love you as if I had. And being that I am not your blood, that means that you are different...You needn't follow the path laid at your feet. You my child, have a choice." She replied, and though he didn't understand her meaning at first, it became all to clear the next day.

When his turn came, he fought. He refused to take the elixir, and become a minion. His heart had the purity of his mother within, that fought his darkened upbringing. But the Lord wasn't one to take refusal lightly, and ordered the stallion be held down and forced. With that his orders were met, and was forced into submission, and the potion was given.
He let out an agonized scream as his flesh began to twist and turn. His eye glowed crimson, and his pure white coat began to darken. After all the torment had ended, all gathered in the hall gasped in surprise...This was no ordinary creature now....upon his back, where two bat like wings should have been, was, One dark, and one pearl white angelic one. And his eyes, though reddened, showed the same growing fury for the creature before him as they had only moments before. Not to mention the odd hue of his coat, which was a blackend shade, dapled in white, and his mane and tail a faded gray.

"I shall never serve you Demon!" Bleak howled, and with a mighty toss of his wings, threw his captors off, and soared out the wind*w out into the world he'd only seen through bars before then.
And so his heart was never tainted by the dark potion, but his body was much affected. He's found it quite difficult for his own kind to accept him...but here...within the Sundry herd, he may find solace in the un-judgemental equines within....If only you allow.... Bleak

Comrade's Story

Upon a cold Autumn morning, a tiny creature scampered through the dark underbrush, running, unintentionally, into a sleeping being of much greater size. The creature was a terribly distraught wild dog. And the being, the daunting form of Bleak, the dark equine. The pup seemed terrified by the stallion, but somehow, even more so of the beast that was chasing him, so the dog took shelter under the great stallions curled white wing. Quite bewildered by all this, Bleak looked up to find himself nose to nose with a dragon, who seemed content to search for the dog right from under Bleak.
"Excuse me Sir..." Bleak replied as the beast lifted his wing and attempted to pluck the trembling k-9 from underneath. "That's my breakfast, hand him over!" the dragon demanded, taking a step back when Bleak clasped his wing firmly back over the animal. "I don't believe he likes that idea..." Bleak replied with a pert tone which made the Dragon oggle in surprise. "Give him to me!" The beast hissed and dove again, only this time Bleak rose from the earth and reared before the offender. "Off with you!" He howled in a half scream, and with a startled look, the Dragon took flight.
Quickly Bleak turned, concerned that he may have frightened the little dog away, but instead he found it wagging it's tiny tail and panting merrily up at him. With a smile, Bleak pulled the little creature onto his back, and so they have been since.

~Intro~

Lying in the brush and fallen leave litter was a stallion, his body and the surrounding area tainted with crimson. His coat was a dappling of whites and midnight blue...long ashen longs twisted and sprawled around his fallen form. Apon his back lay one anglic, and one demonic wing, both laying useless at his sides. Crimson hues lay gently closed, white horn rising from his forelock with a second black one twisting about it. The only sign of life was the faint lift and fall of his body as he breathed deeply, clearly exausted from whatever event had occured to create his current condition.
